What the status check tells you — and what it doesn’t

Calculated from State data
  • Whether the entity type must file
  • Which year’s report applies
  • The exact deadline and days left
  • The Pennsylvania state fee
Confirmed on the official record
  • Whether this year’s report is already filed

Pennsylvania’s open data doesn’t include filing status. We check it by hand before every filing — already filed means a full refund.

ResultWhat it means
Report required — dueThis year’s Annual Report applies and its deadline has not passed. (Whether it is already filed is confirmed on the official record.)
Report required — deadline passedThis year’s deadline has passed. If the report was not filed, it can still be filed — Pennsylvania charges no late fee.
First report next yearThe business formed or registered this year. Its first Annual Report is due next year.
Not requiredThe entity type (for example an authority, credit union or land bank) or an inactive status means no Annual Report.
Needs a quick checkThe data is ambiguous — for example a general partnership, which files only if it is an LLP or electing partnership.

Can you confirm my report is already filed?

Pennsylvania shows annual-report compliance on its official business search, but it does not publish filing status in its open data, and its search site does not offer a public data interface. So we tell you exactly what applies and when — and before we file anything, a person checks the official record. If your report is already filed, we don’t file it again and we refund you in full.

To check yourself, open the official business search, find your business and look at its annual report compliance and filing history.

Where the results come from

Business records come from the Pennsylvania Department of State’s Registered Businesses in PA data, published on data.pa.gov. It lists active registered associations and is refreshed about once a month, so a business formed or changed in the last few weeks may not appear yet. The official, real-time record is the Pennsylvania business search.

Deadlines and fees are calculated from the Department of State’s Annual Report rules for your entity type and today’s date in Pennsylvania.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if my PA Annual Report was filed?

Search your business on the official Pennsylvania business search; the Department of State shows whether an association is compliant with annual reporting. If you order through us, we check this for you before filing.

What happens if I missed the deadline?

There is no state late fee. For reports due in 2027 and later, Pennsylvania may administratively dissolve, cancel or terminate an association six months after the deadline if the report is still not filed. Filing late is still possible.

My company is dissolved. Do I need to file?

No. Pennsylvania says associations listed as inactive (dissolved, terminated, merged out, withdrawn, cancelled) do not file Annual Reports.

We formed this year. When is our first report?

The first Annual Report is due in the calendar year after formation or registration in Pennsylvania.
