How to file a Pennsylvania Annual Report

Last verified September 15, 2026 · official Pennsylvania sources

Short answer

Log in to Business Filing Services at file.dos.pa.gov, search your business, choose File Annual Report (no PIN needed), confirm or update the prefilled information, sign and pay the $7 fee ($0 for nonprofits). The filed report and acknowledgment appear in your work queue within minutes.

Before you start

  • Your business name and Pennsylvania entity number (find it with our file number lookup)
  • Current registered office (street address in PA, or your commercial registered office provider and county)
  • Current principal office address
  • At least one governor’s name (directors, LLC managers or managing members, general partners, trustees)
  • Principal officers’ names and titles, if the business has officers
  • A credit card for the $7 fee (nonprofits pay $0)

Step by step on the State site

  1. Create or sign in to your account. Business Filing Services uses the PA Business Hub with Keystone Login.
  2. Search your business under Business Search at file.dos.pa.gov.
  3. Choose File Annual Report. Pennsylvania says no PIN access is required to file an Annual Report.
  4. Review the prefilled form. The online form fills in what the Department has on file. Correct anything that changed — information must be current as of the filing date.
  5. Sign electronically. Read and check the declarations, enter the signer’s capacity (for example member, manager, president) and full name, and the date.
  6. Pay the fee by credit card.
  7. Download the filed Annual Report and the acknowledgment letter from your work queue and keep them with your records.

Filing on paper

You can mail form DSCB:15-146 with a check payable to the “PA Department of State.” Paper filings are date-stamped on receipt, processed in the regular work queue and returned by mail — they cannot be expedited. Online filing is strongly recommended by the Department.

Or have us do it

If you’d rather not create an account and work through the form, we do it for you for $49 total, state fee included: we find your record, prefill the report, you confirm and sign, and a person files it and emails you the official documents.

Common mistakes

  • Using a P.O. box as the registered office — it must be a street address in Pennsylvania (or a CROP).
  • Listing last year’s officers — the report must be current on the day it is filed.
  • Filing in the year the company was formed — the first report is due the following year.
  • Paying a service that adds a “state late fee” — Pennsylvania has none.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Pennsylvania Department of State the same as the Secretary of State?

Yes. In Pennsylvania, business filings such as the Annual Report are handled by the Department of State (led by the Secretary of the Commonwealth), through its Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations. People often search for it as the “PA Secretary of State.”

Do I need a PIN to file the Annual Report?

No. A PIN is only needed to update a report after it has been filed.

How long does it take?

Online Annual Reports are processed automatically; the filed report is usually available within minutes. There is no expedited option because none is needed.

Can someone else file it for me?

Yes. Pennsylvania says Annual Reports may be submitted on behalf of businesses by law firms and legitimate service companies, and the online signature step includes a declaration for them.

Can I fix a mistake after filing?

Yes, until the end of that calendar year, using the free Annual Report Update (Change in Information). It requires PIN access to the entity.
